Sydney-The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Australia hosted a festive concert and photo exhibition to mark 8 November – Victory Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event gathered members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of business and academia, media outlets, the Azerbaijani community, and multicultural community leaders from across Australia.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Vagif Jafarov, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Azerbaijan, highlighted the profound significance of Victory Day as a milestone that restored justice, national dignity, and pride for the Azerbaijani people. “Five years ago, our nation achieved a historic Victory – a Victory that was not only the end of occupation, but also the restoration of our national dignity, pride, and justice. Today, we bow before the sacred memory of our martyrs and proudly celebrate the freedom won at the cost of their lives,” he noted.

Dr. Jafarov stressed that this achievement was made possible through the unity of the Azerbaijani people, the courage of its servicemen and women, and the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He expressed gratitude to the brotherly nations of Türkiye and Pakistan for their unwavering support, and thanked the Australian Government and all friendly states that respect and uphold Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The cultural program presented a vibrant selection of Azerbaijani music, dance, and artistic performances. Each piece was warmly received by the audience, reflecting the strong appreciation for Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage within Australia’s multicultural society.

Earlier the same day, in Baku, a Military Parade dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War was held at Azadliq Square. The parade was attended by President Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The participation of Azerbaijani, Turkish, and Pakistani troops symbolized the deep-rooted unity and strategic partnership among the three nations.

The commemorative event in Australia not only honored Azerbaijan’s historic Victory but also reinforced cultural pride, strengthened international friendship, and highlighted the enduring solidarity between Azerbaijan and its global partners.
