Philippines Ambassador discussed parliamentary exchanges with MPs

Philippines Ambassador to Australia Ms Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega during her meetings with the members Parliament in Canberra has discussed parliamentary exchanges and celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Australia next year in befitting manner.

Ambassador De La Vega met with Deputy Speaker Kevin Hogan on 18 September 2019 at Parliament House, Canberra, said a statement issued by the embassy of Philippines.

Mr. Hogan shared highlights of his recent visit to the Philippines and his engagement with members of the House of Representatives of the Philippines.

Ambassador De La Vega and Mr, Hogan discussed opportunities to support further parliamentary exchanges between the Philippines and Australia given the importance of the bilateral relationship and in preparation for the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Australia in 2021

She also met with David Smith MP on 18 September 2019 at Parliament House, Canberra and expressed her appreciation for Mr. Smith’s support for the Filipino Language School in Canberra noting its importance in promoting Filipino language and culture to the next generations of Filipino-Australians.

Ambassador and Mr. Smith agreed to work together for a meaningful celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Australia next year.
