A spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Canberra has rejected comments made by the US Ambassador to Australia, Arthur B Culvahouse on China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) terming them distortive and absurd.
“US Ambassador comments, in disregard of basic facts, are ridiculous and absurd”, the spokesperson said in a statement.
He said BRI has so far received wide support from the international community and active participation from many countries around the world.
Spokesperson pointed out that with all the tangible progress, the BRI has become a significant international platform for win-win and all-win cooperation and it will continue to benefit the world.
“To smear and libel others may make certain people feel great, but it will not make him or the country he represents great”, he added.
