European Union Ambassador assumed official responsibilities

European Union Ambassador to Australia Mr Gabriele Visentin on Tuesday presented his credentials to His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia at the Government House during a special ceremony.

Ambassador Gabriele was warmly welcomed at the Government House where the European Union flag wasraised and the EU anthem was also played.

A smartly contengent of the armed forces presented Guard of Honour to Ambassador Gabriele.

Australia has deep political, economic and cultural ties with the European Union, working closely to meet shared global responsibilities such as promoting sustainable development, tackling climate change and respect for international law.

Later, the Governor General and Ambassador Gabriele during a meeting discussed the deep rooted friendly relations between Australia and European Union.

The Governor General expressed his satisfaction that European Union and Australia enjoy a strong, dynamic, and continuously evolving partnership.

Governor General also hosted a lunch in honour of European Union Ambassador.
