IOM Australia chief met Sri Lankan High Commissioner, briefed IOM’s scope of work

Mr. Pär Liljert, Chief of Mission, International Organization for Migration (IOM) Australia; Coordinator and Advisor for New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Thursday paid a courtesy call on High Commissioner of Sri Lanka J.C. Weliamuna in his office.

During the meeting,   Mr. Pär elaborated on the IOM’s scope of work particularly the IOM’s Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme which promote and facilitate voluntary return of overstayed persons in Australia including Sri Lankans to their countries of origin and process of their post-repatriation resettlement and reintegration programmes, said a statement from Sri Lankan High Commission.

High Commissioner J.C. Weliamuna appreciated the committed services being carried out  by IOM  in partnership with  its international partners and assured the continues cooperation of the High Commission of Sri Lanka towards the IOM programme on the voluntary return of refugees.
